About Me

Peter Dunsby

I am currently a full professor of gravitation and cosmology in the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Cape Town (UCT). I published regularly in the field of theoretical cosmology, teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and work closely with my graduate students and postdocs.

In 2003 I secured a bid to host the National Astrophysics and Space Science Programme (NASSP) at the University of Cape Town and served as director of this programme until 2013. Over the past seventeen years NASSP has made a major contribution to human resource development in Astronomy and the Space Science in Southern Africa.

I was the co-director of the Astrophysics, Cosmology and Gravity Centre at UCT from 2013-2016 and Head of the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from 2017-2019. I serve on the editorial board of the International Journal of Modern Physics.

A keen astrophotographer, these pages are dedicated to this part of my life. I hope you enjoy following my journey.
